Yes Prime Minister

Yes Prime Minister is a play based on the nineteen eighties BBC satirical comedy by the same name, which in turn, is a sequel to the Yes Minister comedy by Sir Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn.

After a completely sold out period running at the Chichester Festival Theatre, it is now showing in London for a short while. The original writers got together again to come up with this critically acclaimed 30th anniversary production of Yes Prime Minister at the Gielgud Theatre.

The Yes Prime Minister setting is very appropriate for these times in that it is based on a coalition government that has to deal with a huge budget deficit – sounds familiar?

Of course, Yes Prime Minister would not be the success it is without a good dose of humour injected into it. The only hope of survival the country has is in a deal with a dodgy minister in the fictitious country of Kumranistan. This situation brings about a whole series of comic circumstances.

Yes Prime Minister is directed by Lynn whose career as a screenwriter, director, actor and producer runs over four decades. As well as his success alongside Jay, he has directed movies including The Whole Nine Yards, The Fighting Temptations and My Cousin Vinny.

The Yes Prime Minister comedy is politically astute and as fantastically funny as it always was.
